Pretty, no? Deke
Week One
BACK
So we're already a bit over a week into our magical journey.  I like to think of it like a trip to Disney Land.
Right now we're at the gate standing in line wetting ourselves as we stare at all the bright colors and
excitement inside.  So many things to do so little time to do it.  Okay, so maybe my analogy sucks but finding
a place to start was proving really difficult for me.  Chaos has so much, so much....stuff!  It's a little
bewildering.  So I figured I needed a plan.  In this case an army list.  I told you all my thoughts on my army
list in my first article.  So with that in mind I have crafted this.
All in all I'm very happy with the list.  It has the huge diversity
chaos is capable of, has some good punch to it, and 5 dispel
dice plus a hefty dose of magic resistance should make me fairly
durable in the magic phase.  Naturally, being Khorne, it's an
extremely one dimensional army with no shooting or magic.  I'll
be forced to really capitalize on my movement and some
crushing first round of combat victories.  One of my bigger
concerns is only having one character.  Chaos characters are
little bundles of fury but they're also really expensive.  Oh well,
I'm sure it will all work out fine in the end.
My next big decision was what my first 500 point segment would be to model and paint.  I decided it'd
probably be best to star with some of my pricier troops.  This would give me a low number of models to
paint in the beginning and hopefully provide the catalyst I need to really get on one of my painting binges.
With that, one unit of warriors and one unit of bloodletters hit the chopping block, literally.  Both the warriors
and bloodletter models are so close to being awesome it's painful.  All the elements of great sculpting are in
the models except motion.  They're sooooo static!  The warriors are just rigid while the bloodletters have
been so contorted for ease of casting that half the models are looking one way and walking the other way.
The other half just look like they're about to fall over.  Kenny and I mulled over this problem for a bit, finally
coming to the solution of the plastic beast herd.  For an extra $30 tacked onto the unit I could achieve all the
dynamic motion I wanted.  Having a plan I've begun determinedly removing the bloodletter heads and axes
and applying them to gor bodies.  The bodies are slightly smaller but some green stuff fur should beef them up
nicely.  I had four of them done.  Sadly as is my lot in life I dropped and shattered two. grrrrrr.
The warrior squads are receiving a similar make over.  Though,
this one is contained primarily to their arms.  The standard warrior
has his shoulders and biceps moulded in place allowing the only
movement to come from their elbows.  Ummm, no.  With a little
diligent dremeling I ground out the shoulders from all of the
warriors.  Some spare  Khorne Berserker and Chaos marines
have kindly donated the use of their limbs.  Combined with a little
creative positioning on their bases and we have a unit that looks like it's preparing for battle rather than a
bunch of frenzied northmen inexplicably marching in step.

If everything goes according to plan I'll have all of my conversions done by next Wednesday or so.  That'll
give me two weeks to paint these buggers.  I'm still fretting about the color scheme.  I want to stay away from
the all red Khorne that is so prevalent but still have something that is easily identifiable.  Right now I'm leaning
towards a NMM brass sort of look, we'll see!  Until next week.
